A LIST OF PAST HAPPENINGS - 2006

2006 New Year Party! Community Center in Eagle Heights, Dec 31 2005 (after 8PM) - Jan 1 2006 (up to 6AM).  Enjoy good Romanian food, music, dancing, champagne and fireworks at midnight. No reservations necessary. Potluck.

February 5: 5PM, Monica and Sorin invite everybody at the Eagle Heights community center for a potluck, to meet people newly arrived in Madison.

February 23: You are cordially invited to a DMA lecture and piano recital "Dinu Lipatti", by Eli Kalman. 6:30 Morphy Hall, Humanities.

March 20: Congratulations, it's a boy! Mihai and Violeta have their second son, Dragos.

April 2: 5PM Eagle Heights, graduation party! Congratulations to Mirela Cengher, who graduated with a PhD degree form the University of Wisconsin-Madison! She will leave this summer to Ilmenau, Germany.

May 5: 10 am, Rm 2551 Humanities Building "George Enesco's Opera: Oedipus- a neglected masterpiece", a presentation by Dr. Mihai Cosma -Professor and Director of the National University of Music, Bucharest, Romania. The presentation will be approximately 75 minutes long and will include a documentary about the first American performance of the Oedipus which took place in 2005.

June:
Congratulations to Eli Kalman, who graduated with a Doctor degree in Musical Arts from the University of Wisconsin Madison!

June : Congratulations to Oana Martin who graduated with a PhD degree from the University of Wisconsin Madison! She will soon move to San Francisco

July 30: 4:00 PM Concert; Parry Karp, cello; Eli Kalman, piano; Farley's House Of Pianos LLC

August 15: Good bye and good luck to Nori and Eli Kalman, who move to Oshkosh, where Eli was offered an Assistant Professor position at the University of Wisconsin

October: Congratulations, it's a girl! Alecu and Becca have a daughter, Lucy.

September: Congratulations to Andrei Baiu and five other Madison highschool students who obtained a perfect ACT score this academic year.

November 6: Congratulations! Gabriela Cerghedean's book has been published: "Dreams in the Western Literary Tradition with Special Reference to Medieval Spain: A Method for Interpreting Oneiric Texts" at Mellen Books.

December 5: With overwhelming sadness we learned that our dear Liliana passed away...
